Build a Working Relationship Before Making It Permanent

A resume and an interview are important starting points. The day-to-day working relationship adds another perspective.

Temp-to-hire creates an opportunity to see how an employee approaches the responsibilities, learns the work, communicates, and contributes to your operation. It also gives the employee an opportunity to understand your workplace, expectations, and longer term opportunity.

We approach the assignment with both sides in mind. The goal is not simply to fill an opening for now. It is to help you explore a working relationship that could become part of your team.

Temp-to-hire staffing gives you and the employee an opportunity to work together before considering a permanent hiring decision. TeamBuilt Talent helps you define the role, recruit with purpose, and set clear expectations for the assignment. We stay connected as you evaluate the working relationship, with any transition to direct employment subject to the agreed terms.

When Temp-to-Hire May Fit Your Needs

Temp-to-hire may be worth discussing when you have a potential permanent opening but want an assignment period before making a direct hiring decision.

A Potential Long Term Opening

You need someone to contribute now and may have an ongoing position available. We discuss both the immediate assignment and the potential permanent opportunity.

Time to Evaluate the Work

You want to observe how the employee performs the actual duties with appropriate training, supervision, and clear expectations.

A More Informed Hiring Decision

You want the employer and employee to understand the responsibilities, schedule, work environment, and expectations before considering a permanent transition.

Support Throughout the Assignment

You want a recruiting partner who stays accessible, checks in, and helps address questions as the working relationship develops.

We Recruit for the Role and the Opportunity

If an assignment could lead to permanent employment, that possibility should be explained clearly—not treated as a promise.

We want to understand what the employee will do during the assignment and what you would expect from someone joining your team directly.

Before recruiting, we discuss:

  • Primary responsibilities and required skills
  • Worksite location, schedule, and shifts
  • Assignment pay and anticipated duration
  • Training and supervision provided
  • Job related performance expectations
  • The potential permanent role and any known differences in responsibilities or compensation
  • Conversion requirements and applicable service agreement terms

These conversations help us present the opportunity accurately and identify candidates interested in both the work and its potential next step.

How Temp-to-Hire Works With TeamBuilt

  • We Learn Your Needs

We discuss your operation, the opening, and what makes someone successful in the role. We also want to understand your goals for a potential permanent hire.

  • We Clarify the Arrangement

Before the assignment begins, we discuss the expected duration, rates, responsibilities, evaluation process, and applicable conversion terms. Screening requirements are clarified as part of the planning.

  • We Recruit With Purpose

We speak with candidates about their experience, availability, and goals. We explain the assignment and potential permanent opportunity so they understand what is being considered.

  • We Support the Working Relationship

Once the assignment starts, we maintain communication with you and the employee. Your feedback helps us understand progress, clarify expectations, and address concerns.

  • We Discuss the Next Step

If you and the employee want to move forward, we coordinate the transition according to the agreement. If a permanent hire is not the right next step, we discuss the available options for the assignment.

Clear Expectations Make Evaluation More Meaningful

An employee needs a fair opportunity to understand the job before you can evaluate how the working relationship is developing.

We encourage clear communication about duties, training, supervision, and job related performance expectations. Let us know what is going well and where additional clarification or support is needed.

Useful conversations may include the employee’s progress in learning tasks, quality of work, communication, and ability to carry out the position’s responsibilities.

If the duties, schedule, or requirements change, tell our team so we can discuss how that affects the assignment and expectations.

We Stay Involved Beyond the Start Date

Getting someone started is only part of the relationship. We want to know how things are going once the employee is doing the work.

Are the responsibilities understood? Is the training progressing as expected? Does either side have questions about the assignment or potential transition?

We stay accessible and encourage early communication. When a concern arises, we want to understand it and help identify an appropriate next step within our responsibilities.

That is the TeamBuilt approach: learn your operation, communicate with both sides, and remain involved.

Moving From an Assignment to Your Team

When you are interested in hiring the employee directly, contact TeamBuilt Talent before making the transition.

We will review the applicable agreement and discuss the conversion requirements, any fees, the proposed timing, and the steps needed to coordinate the change.

Any direct employment offer should clearly explain the position, compensation, benefits, schedule, and start date. The employee also needs the opportunity to consider and accept that offer.

A temp-to-hire assignment does not guarantee permanent employment or an automatic conversion. The next step depends on the employer’s needs, the employee’s interest, and the agreed terms.

What If the Assignment Does Not Lead to a Hire?

Not every assignment develops into permanent employment. Business needs can change, or either side may decide the longer term opportunity is not the right fit.

Keep us informed rather than waiting until the anticipated transition date. We can discuss whether the assignment should continue, change, or end under the applicable agreement.

Clear communication helps everyone understand the decision and the next steps.
